Compacting Your Database File

Introduction

Compact and Repair is used for basic file maintenance on your database and calendar files. This single operation both reduces the overall size of the files (by removing unused space), and can repair simple problems with the files themselves. Running Compact and Repair on a weekly basis can help keep your files in top operating condition and lessen the chance of database corruption.

Running Compact and Repair

Open the File menu, and choose Database/Tools/Compact and Repair to open the Compact and Repair window.

Select the file to be compacted, and click the Compact button to begin.

If you are running RESUMate on a network, all other network users must close RESUMate during Compact and Repair. You will not be allowed to begin the process if another user has the database file open.

The process may take a few minutes depending on the size of your database.

When the process is finished you will see a confirmation screen. Click OK to return to your database.
